Macbeth
The Musical Theatre
As KDSF is an organization which carrying out their efforts to help children with Down syndrome disease by fund raising through activities. Therefore, this needs the help and support from society and public. Macbeth: A Musical Theatre was presented by Theatres students of The American Degree Transfer Program (ADP) under the School of Liberal Arts & Sciences. This first full scale theatre production in Taylor’s University is under the tutelage and direction of the ADP’s theatre lecturer, Ms. Pat Chan. A collaboration of the ADP/SLAS lecturers and students, the performance is being hailed as “An Educational Charity Event”, net proceeds of which will be channelled to the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation. SLAS believes it is a privilege for young novice actors to be involved in a professional classical play such as Shakespeare’s and an even bigger privilege to give to charity at the same time.

This play had a significant role in assisting KDSF to raise the awareness of society. As we all know, there are not much people concern about Down syndrome and the foundation. Therefore, through this play, more people are introduced with the foundation and its objective when the members of SLAS promote the play. The publicity of the foundation also increases indirectly.
In addition to that, the profit throughout the play is donated to KDSF in order to undergo activities and improve the facilities of the centre. This has assisted the foundation in the problem of limited capital. With the support of the society in the form of money, the foundation can thus organises more activities likes seminar and workshop as well as provides better facilities and utility to children in the centre.
Moreover, this play has reflected appearance and reality, how people and events are often not as they seem. We discovered the devastation wrought when ambition goes unchecked by moral constraints. Moreover, the play emphasized on Children, representing the future and highlighting evil when they are abused. In this case, we have to put more attention to children as they need the care and love from parents and family.
